A.B.C in the Classroom: Grades one, two and three!
With an educational focus, its no surprise that A.B.C is in the classroom again, but this time teaching about pollinators to the little ones. Grade 1-3 curriculum supports the learning about the natural world and the interdependance of life: from the littlest bug, to the biggest mammal. So, with all of the media around bees, and the important role they play to our ecosystems, A.B.C is now proud to offer an educational classroom visits with specimens, lots of photos, some honey sampling, and crafty review exercises for the teachers!
With over 300 students already taught this year, A.B.C is busy trying to keep up with the demand of this new and alternative course: bee farm to the classroom visit! It has been an incredibly fun experience so far, and as the children learn more about native pollinators (leaf cutters and bumblebees) as well as the introduced European honeybee, the future of bees will be a little more safe. A.B.C is looking at ways to help the bees by educating the little ones about bee behaviours and how to identify them (these children will not mistake a wasp for a friendly bee ever again!).
